Report: METALLICA May Have Set New Attendance Record In Idaho
December 11, 2009Michael Deeds of IdahoStatesman.com reports that METALLICA's December 7, 2009 concert at the Idaho Center in Nampa, Idaho may have set a new attendance record at the venue without completely selling out the show.
Promoter United Concerts hasn't released an official count, according to the Idaho Center, but IdahoStatesman.com believes that somewhere near 13,000 fans were there.
The reason so many fans were able to fill the arena is because METALLICA put its stage in the middle of the floor (what is commonly referred to as performing "in the round").
Using a similar configuration, GEORGE STRAIT set the overall Treasure Valley record at Taco Bell Arena in 2007. He brought in 12,900 fans, eclipsing NEIL DIAMOND's prior record by a whopping three seats. DIAMOND's 12,897 mark had held for more than a decade.
